Muxin Li Wins Second Prize at GFA’s International Concert Artist Competition

One of the world’s leading classical guitar contests, the ICAC brings together top young guitarists from around the globe.

We’re delighted to congratulate guitar student Muxin Li, the Mimi Lane and Robert Durham Fellow at Curtis, for recently winning second prize at Guitar Foundation of America’s International Concert Artist Competition (ICAC). One of the world’s leading classical guitar contests, the ICAC brings together top young guitarists from around the globe to compete for substantial cash prizes and performance opportunities.

Li won $7,000, as well as string packages from Augustine, Savarez, and D’Addario.

“It was such an honor to win a top prize at this competition,” says Li. “Through my studies at Curtis, I’ve learned not only the technique but also the artistry needed to share the music of composers I love.”

Curtis’ guitar faculty have also achieved notable recent success: This fall, Jason Vieaux was named a Mid-Career Artist honoree by the Cleveland Arts Prize, the nation’s oldest municipal arts award. The award includes a $10,000 unrestricted cash award and places him among an esteemed cohort of regional artists.

Congratulations to Muxin and Jason—we can’t wait to see all you accomplish next.
